Hearth...

Hearth... The word conjures, for me, the image of a large wooden table covered in food, mugs of ale, & sweet treats with family & friends gathered close while a hearty fire roars in the fireplace nearby. This scent seems to epitomize that for me... chestnuts roasted over the fire, caramelized sugar & butter, a bit of rum, & a dash of sweet vanilla cream. This scent is delish... when I wear it I absolutely want to lick my wrists! Definitely a rich, decadent, buttery gourmand scent!

Screamin' Mimi.... Screamin' Mimi.... She's a wild-haired rocker chick with a weakness for bourbon, wild cherry suckers, carnival midways & (shhhhhhh.....don't tell anyone!) boy bands.

Pomona....

Pomona…. The ancient Roman goddess of fruitful abundance. She was specifically associated with orchard fruits, but my interpretation of her includes ripened berries, nectarine & red clover with just the tiniest whisper of apple blossom & lilies. A hint of musk & moss anchor it all. Fruity & rich with a faint green note & sweet musk on the dry down. Lovely!

Brand New....

I've now added these classy little dark amber 5ml roll on bottles to the perfume lineup. Absolutely love them! I have the first scent up in the shop in these little beauties, read on.

Boudoir... Vanilla and amber tempered with elegant woods. This isn't a sweet vanilla - but a rich creamy one with sensual smoky undertones & a bit of dryness from the wood. A smoky oak note really comes to the forefront in this one. It has consistently been a favorite among friends, family, & clients.

In my opinion, this is quite unisex.

I frequently make candles for myself, this scent being one of my favorites to use. It never fails when I'm burning this scent that I repeatedly have people who visit my home ask "WHAT is that scent? I want that!" It's a similar reaction when I'm wearing it as a personal fragrance as well. Delectable....quite sensual & smoky!

Wayfarer... Traveler, wanderer, adventurer. Exotic woods from the far reaches of the earth come together with sensual amber, musk & just a hint of patchouli to round out this complex scent. Masculine enough for him, but the ladies have gone wild for this one as well - in particular those who like a warm, spicy kick to their personal fragrances.

Epicurean... Debauchery defined! Exotic, sensual Bombay red musk sweetened by wildflower honey and benzoin. Quite sweet & faintly floral at the top, transitioning into a rich, creamy, almost powdery honey scent with a deep, sultry dry down that lingers on the skin for hours. Probably a little too sweet for those of the masculine persuasion, but perfect for the ladies who like bold musk fragrances.

Hypnotic, sensual & delicious... when I wear this one I cannot stop pressing my wrist to my nose for another whiff. My favorite place to apply it is at the nape of my neck. ;-)

Paradise Found...

Paradise Found... Make your escape to the islands now! Creamy Tahitian vanilla comes together with whisper-light tropical florals & a hint of citrus & coconut, all on a bed of soft white musk.

Sweet, creamy, & addicting. If you're already longing for summer, this is the scent for you! This is a fresh, lovely twist on tropical florals & coconut - minus the "Hawaiian Tropic" effect. ;-)

Nomad...

Nomad…. This one, now this one, my lovelies, is nothing short of pure, unadulterated beauty. Rich, earthy, complex beauty. My, my. The finest amber, essences, & absolutes from around the globe come together to create this sumptuous elixir.

Nomad is not for the faint of heart – it’s comprised of the richest, most elegant, buttery amber I’ve been able to lay my hands on… infused with exotic cardamom for a bit of a spicy, sultry kick. The effect is softened with peru balsam and grounded with the finest grade of aged dark patchouli, while a blend of dry exotic woods balances the whole glorious mélange on an elegant, smoky base.

This exquisite concoction is right at home on both the ladies & the gents… bold enough for masculine wear, but certainly quite fitting for those of the fairer sex who possess within their demeanor a bit of sass & derring-do.

Blue Blood...

Blue Blood… aristocrat, nobleman, explorer… gentleman. His scent is that of sweet pipe tobacco & stout black tea, ripened fruit & crushed clove… exotic citrus, sweet hay, with a lovely heart of rose and lavender absolute to round it out; underscored by rich, balsamic bourbon vanilla, dark patchouli & just a hint of smoky oakmoss. Surrounding it all are notes of teak & mahogany, leather-bound books & hand-penned parchment maps. A hint of elegant musk melds it all together.

This blend contains some of the most precious essences in my collection – absolutes of hay, lavender, two different roses, & bourbon vanilla. It starts out warm & quite complex, hints of ripened dark fruits & sharp clove, with a whisper of sweet hay, leather, & musk…. The faintest breath of Moroccan & Bulgarian rose absolutes adding depth & complexity without turning this scent floral. It dries down on me to a fragrant blend of almost powdery, softened clove & subdued oakmoss – the leather & musk lending a minor supporting role in the overall drydown.

While the name tends to gear it more to the masculine crowd, it is a complex blend that is perfectly unisex, every bit as delicious on her as it is on him – especially for the ladies who like a little kick to their scents.

Wicked Jack... Limited Edition!

Wicked Jack.... Wicked Jack smells wickedly delicious & is extremely limited edition! It contains some of the most exquisite & expensive absolutes & essentials in my collection of perfumery materials. Mmmmmmm.

Lavender absolute blended with pumpkin, fragrant ginger, cinnamon, & cloves - underscored by vanilla, cream, & caramelized sugar - and just a titch of molasses. A whisper of sweet hay & the faintest breath of rich & complex beeswax absolutes round it out. Haitian sandalwood & dark patchouli come together to anchor it all, and the addition of blood orange gives it a distinct orange spice tea scent straight out of the bottle. It dries down to a lovely spicy scent on the skin, which is where the gorgeous note of spiced honey laced with traces of wildflower & sweet grass really shines - that's the beeswax absolute making itself known.

Perfume oils do not scream at others from the opposite side of the room "Hey! Smell me! I'm over here!" the way many traditional alcohol-based perfumes do. Instead, they wear close to the skin & are intended to be reapplied every few hours throughout the day to refresh the scent. They are typically only noticed by yourself & those who may embrace you... unless you're so enamored by the scent that you find yourself asking others to sniff your wrist. ;-) They work in concert with our own body chemistry to create a scent that is truly unique to each individual in not only fragrance, but also in longevity on the skin. Particularly in blends that contain many natural essences you'll find that they do not wear as long as synthetic fragrances do because they do not contain the synthetic materials used to extend the fragrance.

Who Doesn't Need A Little Sunshine In Their Life?

Sunshine! This scent is pure, glorious, unadulterated sunshine! Notes of bright pink grapefruit & clementine come together with ripe strawberry, honeydew, & kiwi - rounded out with sweet, juicy peach.

This magnificently bright scent quickly became my favorite go-to "happy" fragrance when I first blended it as a custom request for a friend. When I need a mood boost, this is THE juice to do just the trick. I can't help but smile when I take a whiff of this one, it always elevates my mood. It is uplifting, invigorating, & smells good enough to eat - but please don't. ;-)

Some citrus essential oils can cause photo-sensitivity... so do be careful where you dab this one if you'll be out in the sun when wearing it. ;-)

Absinthe Sucre...

La Fée Verte... We all know her tawdry history. Her popularity among all classes of imbibers, from the bourgeois to the bohemian set to the poorest of the working class. Her rise, her fall... her branding as a "ferocious beast", a "slayer of men"... and now, her rise again.

Well, let me tell you, my Absinthe Sucre is The Green Fairy on a sugar binge! Spicy-sweet fennel, anise, & wormwood are wrapped up in a velvet cocoon of cream, caramelized sugar, & rich vanilla... underscored by a warm woody base swirling with whispers of sweet dried tobacco leaf. If you close your eyes & linger long enough, you may just catch the tiniest drop of white musk lurking in the background, warmed in the embrace of an elegant amber.

Sweet, buttery, unique... it just may have someone wanting to take a bite out of you! It has just the right amount of that licorice bite without coming across as a "licorice candy" scent, but if sweet, heavy, gourmand (foody) scents aren't your thing then this one likely is not for you. ;-)

Île Bourbon – The Indian Ocean islands where the world’s finest vanilla hails from – Madagascar, the Comoros, and Réunion - were once known as the Île Bourbon.

As far as I’m concerned, rich, decadent bourbon vanilla and intensely sweet ylang ylang were meant to be paired - and that’s just what I’ve done in this blend fit for a queen.

Ylang ylang is known the world over as an aphrodisiac and is said to relieve tension & impart joy. Underscore it with the heady, sweet balsamic fragrance of bourbon vanilla & you have an exotic, sensual, & downright gorgeous blend. This isn't a "girly" vanilla - this is the deep, rich, TRUE scent of natural vanilla - the finest in the world. It wears close to the body, & if you’re anything like me you’ll find yourself sniffing your wrists incessantly when wearing it.

Very feminine & sweet - ideal for those who adore sweet scents without the “foody” element. Elegant in its simplicity, this one is a personal favorite that I wear often.

Created from pure essential oils of ylang ylang & Madagascar vanilla, blended in a base of skin-loving fractionated coconut oil. This blend just gets more beautiful the longer it ages.

The latest addition to the perfume oil line-up....

Selkie... those mythical creatures of Irish, Scots, and British lore. Seals that slip their skin and walk upon the land in human form.

What is the scent of a Selkie? Well, to me, it must be one of myth and mist, sea and sand, earth and sky - So I've brought together a beautiful bouquet of violet, lotus, rose, & waterlily... grounded it with a base of soft white musk, and finished it off with the dreamy, watery scent of waves lapping at a rocky shore. A bit on the sweet side, mysterious, ethereal, & whisper light.

For Your Consideration...

As promised, the return of the perfume oils! To kick it off, I'm introducing a brand new scent - Fómhar… “autumn”. An ode to my Irish roots.

Ohhhhhh…… Autumn. My favorite time of year. There is a crispness to the air, a different quality to the sunlight. And for whatever reason, it brings with it memories that are attached to certain scents. Autumn, for me, is precious woods & a whisper of dry leaves, carrying with them bitter chocolate, caramel, a hint of rich vanilla, along with the faintest whisper of sweet pipe tobacco.

This is my new personal scent – when I wear it I cannot stop smelling my wrists. It goes on with a dry, woody scent, underscored by bitter chocolate. It quickly dries down into a gorgeous mélange of vanilla & caramel which adds some sweetness & depth to the chocolate, all layered over the rich scent of dried tobacco leaf, the faintest hint of dry, earthy autumn leaves swirling through the background.

As far as I’m concerned, this is perfectly unisex & would smell just as divine on men as it does on women.

Precious myrrh, amyris (also known as Haitian sandalwood), cocao, vanilla, a breath of patchouli & a whisper of caramel, blended in a base of skin-loving fractionated coconut & jojoba oils. Presented to you in a 7.5ml amber glass vial.

The Return of The Smellies...

I'm baaaaaaaaack.....

Well, after taking a year-long hiatus from my jewelry to pursue some other endeavors, I've reopened my jewelry shop. It sure feels great to be back at my work bench with my tools in my hands. I actually reopened the shop shortly after the first of the year, but have been very lackadaisical about updating the blog.... so here I am. Finally. Yes, I am the Queen of Procrastination.

I have several new designs, one of which I introduced yesterday at a few different venues & promptly sold out. I actually wore one of them yesterday when I went to pick my daughter up from preschool, and her teacher bought it right off my neck. Pretty flattering.

For those of you who are interested, I'm still working on the details of getting the bath & body line back up & running. I have so much on my plate right now that I had to take a step back & re-evaluate the things on that plate & decide what needed to go to the back burner for the time being. I know many of you have repeatedly asked when the shop will reopen, & I appreciate your interest & your patronage so very much. I'll keep you posted.

And now... time to hit my workbench. I have several orders to pack & ship this morning, and some custom requests to work on.
